A reminder from a fourteen year old dog
Living is a miracle. She made sure to remind me of that.
Tenten is sweet, wise, and old. She knows this in her bones. She knows--feels-- this in her heart. Fourteen years and still kicking on this earthly life is one big adventure.
Tenten's session is one of the longer sessions that I have spent with an animal client, simply due to how frail and slow her communication was. Her mind was clear, but her energy was "sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread." (Yes, I am a ππ€ )
I noted down Tenten's distinct memory about how she felt her body dramatically felt differently in the last two years. She made me feel how there was a hard mass or object inside her, and I made sure to ask her human about this. "My living is a miracle," Tenten added.
Her human tearfully recounted how a year ago, their vet found a tumor in her leg and how the corresponding surgery was complicated. "We almost lost Tenten back then. She was not even 50-50. She was 30-70. Yes, her vet said her recovery was a miracle."
Sometimes, there's not much that science can contribute more to a life that has seen so much and a heart that has loved deeply. And when there is visible decline in life force and physical vitality sometimes, support and comfort is what we can give them best. Maybe, there is no one to save, when they have lived a life of love.
I know you know how loved you are, Tenten. May your twilight years be peaceful, happy, and content. Thank you.
