mina is my cat
She is a rescue and our story began when she saw me and sat on my lap. She told me then and there to take her home. I refused her for the next three months because I was at a stage in my life where I wanted to be free, with no little creatures that I have to be responsible for. I was juggling my legal work, studies, and an ever-present existential crisis. Obviously, I lost that futile exercise of wills and brought her home. We still annoy each other to this day, and she has helped me foster so many other tiny trash gremlins ever since.
I did not wake up one day like Eliza Thornberry and started talking to animals.
I have always loved animals, of all kinds, ever since I was little. Growing up, I was fortunate to witness and honor wild birds, fruit bats, goats, and a compound full of running rescue dogs. I even went vegan for the animals in 2013, up until 2020 when having a vegan diet while living alone was not the most economical and healthy for me. (I am gradually working my way back, with a lot of grace).
My gift of communicating with animals was not bestowed on me by any human. It is not and has never been through a certification or workshop. I did not wake up one day like Eliza Thornberry (how revealing of my age!) and started talking to animals. My gift is a cultivation of the love shared with me by all my animal friends and teachers. It is both a gift and a spiritual skill which I hone and honor daily, in my meditations and actions. It is also an acceptance of my heritage as a Filipino, with roots from all over the archipelago.
My aim is to be of service to my community, in love and honesty. Sometimes, my human words, that translate for our animal friends, are not soothing balms for human ears. What I am truly blessed with is having a deep vessel for grief, that even in my dreaming they are digested and transformed into visions and words. Many have come to me to talk to their animal friends (scaled, feathered, furry) who are still living and also beyond the rainbow bridge.
My gift is a responsibility, which I am happy and honored to share with my community and to the public for five years now. I want to stregthen the animal and human connection, in life and beyond.
Only when this resonates with your heart, trust my service.
My name is Ann.
