Hershey's kicks

When I was a little girl, we had a neighbor who owned rabbits. I remember being scared of them because "how could they be so mean when they are round like cotton and so cute?" I would go home always thinking, I would never want one living with me. πŸ˜…

I gradually learned a lot more about rabbits after that. Looking back at those memories, my neighbor's rabbits remained intact and aggressive. And possibly unhappy (at this point I really can't remember who was more unhappy at the sight of the other--me or them?)

I have already talked to several bunnies before my session with Hershey. It was only when I talked to Hershey when I remembered how bunnies once scared me... Except, Hershey wasn't unhappy and he is even neutered! Hershey had a little bit of "kick" in him 🀣 he even "kicked" me out of the session ("Ok, bye, we are done!" πŸ™‰) Hershey is just one of those rabbits with a lot of misplaced self-confidence and he should count his lucky stars that he has Reese (who has her life together) and his human girl, who loves him very dearly.

I asked Hershey what he thought of his human girl and, while I am always hoping to hear how much they love their humans, Hershey immediately said "ehh* she's a horror movie ehhh like jump scares!" I asked him to show me what he meant and it turns out he didn't love it when humans suddenly peek inside his hutch. It surprises him πŸ˜…

Thank you, Hershey, for letting me talk to you and thanks for not kicking me out too hard. 🀣

At present, I am happy to see the growing community and progress in Philippine animal welfare, but there is, still, much to be asked and more work to be done. Exotic animals, including rabbits, need more veterinary care and specialized habitats. Yes, they are expensive to care for because they are not easy house pets. Please rethink, reconsider, and review your household finances and lifestyles before committing to being their human. Too many innocent souls slowly and cruelly perish because of neglect. We can all do better with good research.

I am supporting and boosting a local rabbit fosterer that needs your support @fuzzybunny.ph More details on what they need in my next newsletter 🌻
